Invest in Deeply Affordable Housing

Ottawa has a desperate shortage of deeply affordable housing for those in need.

Waitlists can be 10 years or more for social housing. Nearly nothing has been built in the past 20 years, since the federal government gutted funding for social housing in the early 1990s.

Our municipal government must take a leadership role and dramatically increase funding for deeply affordable housing to start reducing the backlog.

Our next Mayor and Council will also need to be champions for affordable housing and urge the federal government and provincial government to pay their fair share.
