Our city doesn\u2019t have a parking crisis \u2014 we have a housing crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
New developments in our downtown core or near major transit stations should not be required by law to include a certain amount of parking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This creates perverse incentives for developers to build parking lots instead of homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We should end mandatory parking minimums and let developers decide if they want to build parking or not \u2014 the market will decide how many spots are needed in our downtown core.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We should also work to improve our transit, pedestrian and biking infrastructure to reduce the need for parking in our downtown core.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
